Health

Health checks and promotion: these include Blood pressure check, Height, Weight and Body Mass Index at our office and at the outreach sessions across the City, these are aimed at those in the Irish Community that do not go to the G.P. regularly and encouraging them to do so.

Coventry Irish Carers support group is open to all carers with an Irish background. The aim of the group is to offer support, information and encouragement that carers need to make life easier for both the carer and the person cared for. It also gives people the opportunity to meet other carers in an informal environment. Light refreshments are provided.

  • Are you a mother, father, husband, wife, partner, brother, sister or friend and find you care for someone with physical or mental health difficulties?
  • Would you like to come and meet with other Irish people who may be having similar experiences to yourself?

The group meets every 2nd Thursday of the month.

The dates of the next group meetings are:
November 10th 11am – 1pm

8th December  11am – 1pm

Trips and events have also been planned for the Irish Carers Group, more details by contacting us at the office.

 Advocacy and Support –  We can liase with your G.P. and other health professionals advocating on your behalf and supporting you we will support you to ensure you are getting the right service.

Smoking cessation service drop in and telephone service. Stop smoking courses are free and if you are entitled to free prescriptions an eight week course of nicotine replacement patches will be provided free of charge. If you pay for your prescriptions you will need to bring a cheque or postal order to cover the cost of NRT.

We attend and contribute to health forums in the City putting across the Coventry Irish Society’s opinion on health issues in the city and keeping up to date with local policies and strategy.

We accept referrals from any source: from the person who may need help, from relatives, friends, GPs, social workers, and statutory or voluntary sector services.
