Health checks and promotion: these include Blood pressure check, Height, Weight and Body Mass Index at our office and at the outreach sessions across the City, these are aimed at those in the Irish Community that do not go to the G.P. regularly and encouraging them to do so.
Coventry Irish Carers support group is open to all carers with an Irish background. The aim of the group is to offer support, information and encouragement that carers need to make life easier for both the carer and the person cared for. It also gives people the opportunity to meet other carers in an informal environment. Light refreshments are provided.
The group meets every 2nd Thursday of the month.

9th July 11am – 1pm

Health and Welfare Outreach Clinics in Community currently at St Oswald’s advice centre, Jardine Crescent, Tile Hill every Friday from 10am till 12 noon and Holbrooks Community Care Association, Holbrooks Lane, Holbrooks, every other Wednesday from 1.30pm till 4pm (Contact CIS for dates.)
Advocacy and Support – accompanying to G.P. or Hospital appointments with clients and if required, speak on a clients behalf to other agencies e.g. G.P. or other agencies.
Smoking cessation service drop in every Tuesday between 11am – 12 noon. Stop smoking courses are free and if you are entitled to free prescriptions an eight week course of nicotine replacement patches will be provided free of charge. If you pay for your prescriptions you will need to bring a cheque or postal order to cover the cost of NRT.
We attend and contribute to health forums in the City putting across the Coventry Irish Society’s opinion on health issues in the city and keeping up to date with local policies and strategy.
We accept referrals from any source: from the person who may need help, from relatives, friends, GPs, social workers, and statutory or voluntary sector services.
